Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova announced the release from custody in Azerbaijan and the return to Russia of Igor Kartavykh, editor-in-chief of the Kremlin-backed publication Sputnik Azerbaijan. The decision to lift the arrest was made following a meeting between the presidents of Russia and Azerbaijan in Dushanbe.
The Kremlin has once again stated that it does not interfere in Georgia's affairs

Relations between Moscow and Tbilisi are not being built in any way. Russia has not interfered and does not intend to interfere in any way in the events in Georgia. This was stated by the press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov.
According to him, the Kremlin is surprised to see the Europeans' blatant interference in Georgian affairs and attempts to put pressure on the Georgian authorities.
In Georgia, the opposition and its supporters do not recognize the results of the parliamentary elections, in which the ruling party "Georgian Dream" officially won the majority of votes. Protests have been going on for more than three weeks. During this time, security forces have detained over 400 participants.
The United States and European countries have repeatedly stated that "Georgian Dream" has ties with the Kremlin. Laws adopted by the Georgian authorities based on the Russian model, methods of pressure on opponents, election fraud, as well as anti-Western rhetoric are noted.
