A memorial plaque to Anna Politkovskaya was destroyed again in Moscow

A memorial plaque to journalist Anna Politkovskaya, installed on the Moscow building where she was killed, was destroyed twice in one day, Radio Liberty reported, citing the Telegram channel SOTA. The toppled and smashed temporary plaque bore the same inscription as the original.

Novaya Gazeta Evropa claims that neo-Nazis from the NS/WP organization claimed responsibility for the vandalism. Journalist Sergei Parkhomenko reports that a plaque from the "Last Address" project on the same building was also destroyed.

Anna Politkovskaya wrote about human rights violations in Chechnya and criticized the Russian authorities. Several people were convicted in the case of the journalist's murder, but those who ordered the crime were never found. Politkovskaya's family and associates did not rule out the involvement of the Chechen authorities in her murder.
