An additional day off for Eid al-Adha has been announced in the North Caucasus republics

June 6, Friday, will be a day off in honor of the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha. The corresponding announcements have been made in Dagestan, Chechnya, Ingushetia, Karachay-Cherkessia, and Kabardino-Balkaria. The republics have also identified the main sites for sacrifices.

Eid al-Adha is one of the two main Muslim holidays, which is celebrated 70 days after Eid al-Adha. It marks the end of the Hajj, a pilgrimage to Mecca, which is considered one of the "pillars of faith" in Islam.

Traditionally, Muslims congratulate each other, perform a full ablution before the holiday, and greet guests in clean clothes. An equally important tradition is treating friends, guests, and those in need with the meat of a sacrificial ram.
