Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan accused his predecessors—former presidents Levon Ter-Petrosyan, Robert Kocharyan, and Serzh Sargsyan—of concealing the truth about the Karabakh settlement from the Armenian people. At a briefing in Yerevan, the head of the Armenian government noted that all these politicians in opposition to the current government recognized Karabakh as part of Azerbaijan but did not disclose this information to the public.
Russian Ambassador to Armenia Sergei Kopyrkin stated that the country’s exit from the CSTO is not currently on the agenda. He did not answer the question about the reasons for Yerevan’s non-participation in the organization’s latest events.
“We focus primarily on official statements by the Armenian leadership, according to which the issue of Armenia’s withdrawal from the CSTO is currently not on the agenda. As you know, next year Armenia will chair the Eurasian Economic Union,” Sergei Kopyrkin said in an interview with TASS.
Recently, Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan stated that de facto actions or inactions of the CSTO do not correspond to its obligations to the country. “Why haven’t we made and won’t make a decision to leave the CSTO? We will make a decision based on the state interests of Armenia,” the prime minister noted.
Let us recall that earlier Armenia refused to participate in the meeting of the Council of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly, held in Moscow on December 19. On November 30, the country’s representative did not take part in the working meeting of the CSTO member countries in Skopje (North Macedonia). On November 23, Pashinyan ignored the organization’s meeting in Minsk. On November 25, he accused Russian television channels of destabilizing the situation in Armenia.
