The Russian Federation again stated that Armenia is moving closer to the West

The political vector of Armenia is leaning more and more towards the West. This conclusion was voiced by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk.

“Speaking about Armenia, we cannot close our eyes to the fact that today the political vector of this country is leaning more and more towards the West. You need to understand that the European Union and the Eurasian Economic Union are incompatible things. And the benefits that some country receives from proximity to Russia are also the price we pay for our security and strategic depth, so the arrival of some extra-regional players there will, of course, have consequences,” Overchuk said ..

Armenia recently signed a contract with France for the purchase of CAESAR self-propelled guns, as well as cooperation agreements with the Franco-German defense concern KNDS.

Earlier, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan again criticized the CSTO and announced his withdrawal from the organization, without giving a time frame. He also spoke about Armenia's desire to become a candidate for membership in the European Union.
