The Russian Federation reported that NATO wants to open a second front in the South Caucasus

NATO sets the maximum task - to open a second front against Russia in the South Caucasus. This was stated by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova. According to her, the recent visit of NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg to the regions of Transcaucasia is another attempt to draw the countries of the South Caucasus into the zone of Euro-Atlantic influence.

“Recently, activity has been observed in the Armenian direction: the program “individual adaptation to the Armenia-NATO partnership” is being pushed to Yerevan. Their efforts are aimed at discrediting relations between Yerevan and Moscow, as well as at completely curtailing contacts,” Zakharova said.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said yesterday that Armenia’s cooperation with NATO cannot be directed against the region. “Armenia continues to adhere to the policy of regionalization. Our special relations with Georgia and Iran are extremely important, and any cooperation we have with NATO cannot be directed against our own region,” the Armenian Prime Minister said during a joint press conference with NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg.
