Slowdown of mobile internet observed in North Ossetia and other regions of the Russian Federation

A drone threat has been declared in North Ossetia, which may cause a slowdown in cellular communications and mobile internet. This was reported by the head of the republic, Sergei Menyailo, in his Telegram channel.

Recently, residents of many regions of Russia have been complaining about failures in the mobile internet, as well as in the operation of Telegram and WhatsApp. This picture has become familiar and surprises few people. Telecom operators report that the cause of the failures is not in them: mobile internet and messengers are “acting up” due to ensuring the safety of citizens. Some heads of regions have spoken about this without explaining the essence. The Ministry of Digital Development has abandoned the idea of notifying citizens via SMS about upcoming failures. According to the department, this, firstly, will require large financial and time costs, and secondly, will reveal the methods of law enforcement agencies to suppress threats, which is prohibited by law.
