In North Ossetia, the trial of the police officers who beat Vladimir Tsakaev to death will be held again

After drawing up a new charge, the prosecutor's office returned the criminal case on the death of local resident Vladimir Tsakaev in the police department to the Leninsky District Court of Vladikavkaz for consideration.

The new consideration is due to the fact that the court previously found gross violations of the requirements of the Criminal Procedure Code. The date of the first hearing has not yet been set. The investigation believes that nine former police officers were involved in the murder of Vladimir Tsakaev - Georgy Tsomaev, Shota Maisuradze, Soslan Sitokhov, Vladimir Valiev, Azamat Tsugkiev, Alan Bigaev, Spartak Buzoev, Atsamaz Datiyev and Oleg Dzampaev.

Vladimir Tsakaev, a 39-year-old father of two, died after being interrogated under torture on the night of November 1, 2015, in a Vladikavkaz police station, where he was taken on suspicion of injuring a police officer with a gunshot (it later turned out that the man was not involved in the crime). The officers beat the detainee until he lost consciousness for several hours and also tried to suffocate him with a bag. The man died in hospital shortly after. News of his death led to rallies in North Ossetia.
