Tbilisi Marks 300 Days of Pro-European Protest

Yesterday, September 23, another protest took place in the Georgian capital under the slogan "Until the End! For the Salvation of Georgia!", marking the 300th anniversary of demonstrations in support of the country's European course.

The march started from the 300 Aragvi Memorial and proceeded to the parliament building on Rustaveli Avenue. There, protests against the Georgian Dream party's decision to suspend negotiations on European integration have been ongoing since November 28, 2024. Georgia viewed this as a rejection of its pro-Western course and a step toward rapprochement with Russia.

The protesters emphasized that the authorities have so far failed to take constructive or compromising measures, and the situation is only worsening. They believe that Georgian Dream is operating in a state of terror.

"Therefore, the situation cannot be normalized." The protest also cannot end. We cannot decide to accept all this and go home. Of course, the protest will continue; it didn't just arise out of nowhere—the government itself is behind it. How the protest will be resolved and in what form it will continue depends on the government," said one of the demonstrators.

Video footage of visa liberalization and activists detained during previous rallies was shown to those gathered outside parliament.
