Armenian authorities dismiss pro-Russian officials

After the meeting of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on electricity supply issues, three officials associated with Russia were dismissed. This was reported by the Armenian newspaper Hraparak.

The head of the Public Services Regulatory Commission Garegin Baghramyan, Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Hakob Vardanyan and Deputy Minister of Economy Narek Teryan were dismissed from their posts. The latter previously worked in the Russian Federation, including at the state-owned VTB.

According to the publication, the Armenian authorities intend to continue to dismiss officials with ties to the Russian Federation.

Recall that in July, after 32 years of service, Russian border guards left the Yerevan Zvartnots airport. Earlier, the Armenian authorities announced the suspension of membership in the pro-Russian CSTO bloc, as well as the country's desire to become a candidate for accession to the EU. In addition, Armenia conducted military exercises together with the United States and increased purchases of weapons and military equipment from European countries and India.

In addition, from 2025, Russian border guards will stop serving at checkpoints on the Armenian-Iranian border.
