A devastating flood in Dagestan has resulted in massive landslides, affecting more than 6,000 people and 25 communities. The disaster destroyed several roads and damaged approximately 200 homes. More than 3,000 people in the Derbent and Tsumadinsky districts were left without gas due to damaged utility lines. The main causes of the disaster are believed to be abnormally heavy rainfall, which oversaturated the soil, as well as aggravating factors such as chaotic construction and worn-out utility lines.
Russian authorities have placed a Chechen blogger on the wanted list
Aslan Artsuyev, director of the European Center for Human Rights – Ichkeria and Chechen blogger and lawyer, has been placed on the federal wanted list in Russia. According to Rosfinmonitoring, a criminal case has been opened against him on terrorism charges.
Aslan Artsuyev is known, in particular, for holding protests in Germany demanding an investigation into the murder of former field commander Zelimkhan Khangoshvili. He later reported that four of his relatives were kidnapped in Chechnya in 2021 following these events.
In February of last year, the Ministry of Justice added Artsuyev to its list of foreign agents, claiming that he "called for actions that could lead to a violation of Russia's territorial integrity."
