An assassination attempt on Vladimir Osechkin, the founder of Gulagu.net, was thwarted in France. French intelligence agencies arrested a group of individuals suspected of plotting the murder of the Russian opposition leader. Three natives of Dagestan were among those detained.

According to French media, the General Directorate of Internal Security (DGSI) made arrests in Biarritz, where Osechkin resides. The detainees, French and Russian citizens between the ages of 26 and 38, are suspected of planning an attack on "an opponent of Vladimir Putin," according to media reports.

The investigation established that the suspects had repeatedly visited Osechkin's area of residence, and video recordings of his home were found on the phone of one of them. Investigators believe they were plotting his assassination.

Osechkin confirmed the thwarted assassination attempt and the arrest of the suspects. According to the French anti-terrorism prosecutor's office, the assassination attempt was thwarted at the last minute.
