The youth of Russia and Armenia can play an important role in developing relations between the two countries, stated Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova. According to her, young people should be interested in peaceful coexistence and maintaining friendly ties.

Zakharova responded to a question about the role of Armenian youth, but suggested not dividing young people by nationality.

"I wouldn't divide it by nationality, because youth—both Armenian and Russian—can play a role in developing bilateral relations. Our countries are multinational, so let's talk about the youth of both countries. Yes, they can play a colossal role," the diplomat emphasized.

According to Zakharova, the younger generation can become advocates for "peaceful coexistence and friendship between our countries, and the development of the best possible relations."

She emphasized that Moscow expects the closest possible relations with Yerevan, citing the historical and cultural ties between the two peoples. "And the best possible relations should exist between our countries. This should be to the highest degree, surpassing what is officially written. Because there is a centuries-old historical background, and there is a cultural affinity for this, including in the agricultural sector and in religious beliefs. This is best described by the words "traditional values." This, of course, also includes our country's contribution to the resolution of those bloody conflicts that claimed the lives of Armenian citizens," said the Russian Foreign Ministry representative.

She added that young people should remember Russia's participation in conflict resolution, as well as the Russian servicemen who died in the line of duty.

According to Zakharova, relations between Russia and Armenia have not only a historical but also a modern foundation. She pointed to the large number of families created by citizens of the two countries and the generations of people who consider both cultures to be close.

"This has a modern foundation in the form of the huge number of families created between citizens of the two countries. Entire generations have been born who do not separate themselves from the cultures of both countries. "We need to develop relations in all areas. After all, this is geographical proximity, a crucial artery and transportation opportunity for Armenia to promote its products, its capabilities, and its potential through our country and into our country," Zakharova said.

In her opinion, cooperation between Moscow and Yerevan must be developed in all areas, including trade and transportation.
