Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has identified the signing and ratification of a peace agreement with Azerbaijan as his primary objective for the coming years. He intends to see this matter resolved by 2031, a goal he announced during a government meeting on October 15, as reported by Armenpress.
Pashinyan emphasized that he views the peace treaty not merely as a collective task for the Cabinet of Ministers and the ruling political team, but as a personal priority.
"I have set this task for myself and established a specific timeframe: to reach a resolution by 2031. Naturally, this is also a task for the government and our political team as a whole. However, as the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, I also consider it a vital part of my personal agenda that we resolve this issue by 2031," the head of government stated.
He clarified that "this perspective did not emerge just recently," adding that he now sees a genuine possibility for its realization.
"Otherwise, I would not be speaking about it in this or any other forum," he said.
Pashinyan urged the government to remain focused on the peace process without neglecting other areas of work. Among these, he cited the "TRIPP" (Crossroads of Peace) initiative, the opening of transport links, economic development, and various programs launched following the revolution.
According to the Prime Minister, the signing and ratification of an agreement with Azerbaijan would mark a watershed moment in the history of the country and the Armenian people—a turning point that would usher in a new phase defined by different priorities and approaches.
