The West promised Armenia assistance and resistance to foreign interference

A joint press conference was held in Brussels by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Josep Borrell and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. The European Commission intends to allocate 270 million euros of assistance to Armenia over four years, Ursula von der Leyen said. She also noted the positive efforts of Armenia in the fight against circumvention of anti-Russian sanctions.

“We must be sure that lethal weapons and equipment will not end up in the hands of the Russian armed forces,” said the head of the European Commission.

Josep Borrell, at a meeting with Pashinyan, promised Armenia support in “countering foreign information manipulations and interventions,” as well as assistance in increasing the information literacy of the population.

Nikol Pashinyan, in turn, expressed hope that the West will help modernize the infrastructure of Armenia. “Yerevan is ready to improve the investment environment to attract European and American companies and enter new markets,” said the Armenian Prime Minister.
