The Southern District Military Court found Islam Batsiev, a native of Dagestan, guilty of attempted murder of a law enforcement officer (Article 317 of the Russian Criminal Code) for participating in the attack on Pskov paratroopers as part of Basayev and Khattab's field detachment. Batsiev was sentenced to 21 years in a maximum-security penal colony.

A resident of Ingushetia, Adam Maloroev, who is abroad and wanted in the Russian Federation, recorded a video message. He reported that he and another native of the republic were tortured by FSB officers in Magas to extract testimony against Dagestani residents Abas Saidov and Zamur Tagirov. The latter were sentenced to 19 years on charges of involvement in ISIS (recognized as a terrorist organization).
“They put a bag over my head, tied my hands, tied tape to my legs, and I spent several days in this position. They beat me and beat me, in the face, in the head. They beat me so much that blood came out of my mouth. They forced me to incriminate myself, that I was interested in the war in Syria, in Chechnya, that I was going to go out and do jihad, that I knew these guys (Saidov and Tagirov), that I wanted to attack FSB officers with them. I had to testify against these guys in court, otherwise I would have been imprisoned with them,” Maloroyev said.
Under torture, he was forced to give incriminating testimony. Then he asked for time for treatment and, under a written undertaking not to leave, left Russia.
Two more witnesses, Asiyat Batyrova and Izabella Israfilova, gave incriminating testimony against Saidov and Tagirov. They also later retracted their testimony.
