A resident of Dagestan was convicted of participating in a banned organization that did not recognize the Russian Federation

The Kirovsky District Court of Makhachkala sentenced Sharap Davudov to two years' imprisonment on probation. He was found guilty of participating in the activities of the banned organization Citizens of the USSR. Supporters of the movement consider themselves citizens of the USSR and, on this basis, refuse to recognize the constitutional system of the Russian Federation, abide by its legislation and obey the current government.

The case against Davudov and three other “citizens of the USSR” – Tatyana Fomina and Zainal and Ruslan Abdulaev – was opened in March 2022. They gathered at the office of the "Makhachkala Executive Committee of the DASSR", after which the security forces broke in and took people to the police department.
