The Georgian Parliament has expeditiously passed a bill in its third and final reading requiring organizers of protests in "places where people gather or where vehicles are moving" (including on sidewalks) to notify the police. The responsible person must contact the Patrol Service Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (located at the location of the demonstration) in writing no later than five days before the rally.
A court in Kazan arrested a local resident, Ruslan Tavdiryakov, for 10 days. He was found guilty under an administrative article for a post comparing nationalists at the religious procession with participants in the pogrom at the Makhachkala airport.
Ruslan Tavdiryakov was sentenced to arrest for inciting hatred and hostility towards a group of people "Russians, Orthodox." He published a video on his Telegram channel in which participants in the religious procession chant "Russians, forward!"
"Interesting! These young men who reformatted the religious procession in the Northern capital into a chauvinistic "Russian March", humiliating the national and religious feelings of millions of non-Russian and non-Orthodox citizens of our country, will receive a due assessment and exemplary punishment, like the young people who succumbed to emotions (and their moderators) at the Makhachkala airport? The article is the same!.. Or is it something else? ", - this is the text with which the man accompanied the video.
The investigation, based on the examination, found humiliating statements and incitement of hatred towards the group of people "Russians, Orthodox" in this comment.
Ruslan Tavdiryakov drew a parallel between the events of the religious procession and the action at the Makhachkala airport. Let us recall that on October 29, 2023, hundreds of people broke into the airport of the capital of Dagestan, trying to find passengers of a transit flight from Tel Aviv. The crowd protested against Israel's actions in Palestine. After that, criminal cases were opened against more than 140 people. More than 80 people have already received real terms. Human rights activists pointed out the bias of the trial: among the accused could have been those who did not participate in the storming of the airport. Relatives of many of the defendants stated that they considered the sentences too harsh and unfair. 11 prosecution witnesses were unable to identify the defendants.
