Zurabishvili discussed the initiative to hold new elections with European leaders
After a telephone conversation with Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili, Polish President Andrzej Duda said that the best way out of the current situation in the country is to hold repeat parliamentary elections in compliance with OSCE recommendations.

Zurabishvili also discussed the political crisis in Georgia with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas, Polish President Andrzej Duda, Czech President Petr Pavel, Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, and Latvian President Edgars Rinkevics.

In particular, Czech President Petr Pavel noted that his Georgian counterpart informed him not only about the various shortcomings of the October parliamentary elections, but also about the ongoing repression, violence, and recent changes in legislation that are increasingly bringing Georgia closer to Russia.

"I offer my support to the President in her efforts to get out of this difficult situation, as well as to the citizens of Georgia who continue to fight for the democratic future of their country," Pavel expressed his position.

Salome Zurabishvili discussed with European leaders initiatives to hold talks with the honorary chairman of the Georgian Dream Bidzina Ivanishvili and create a council that will prepare new elections.

Recall that the Prime Minister of Georgia, a member of the Georgian Dream Irakli Kobakhidze, previously threatened Zurabishvili with criminal prosecution if she exceeds her authority and announces new elections, as well as if she does not leave the presidential post by December 29.
