Representatives of the Council of Europe have called on Azerbaijani authorities to release human rights defender Anar Mammadli, who was sentenced to 13 years in prison. Specifically, PACE rapporteur on political prisoners Azadeh Rojhan asserts that his prosecution is political in nature and that fundamental principles of a fair trial were violated during the proceedings.
Teenagers arrested in Stavropol Krai for planning sabotage
Two teenagers in Stavropol Krai have been charged with attempted sabotage. Investigators believe the 16-year-olds attempted to set fire to cellular tower equipment.
As the human rights project "First Department" notes, such cases against minors are sometimes initiated as a result of provocations by law enforcement.
The teenagers have been arrested. According to the Investigative Committee, one of them contacted an unidentified person on Telegram in October 2025, agreed to "destabilize mobile communications" for a fee, and recruited an acquaintance to participate. In November 2025, the teenagers allegedly attempted arson and were arrested.
