Over 500 witnesses will be questioned in the case of the brother of the head of Ingushetia

The Cherkessk City Court is preparing to question over 500 prosecution witnesses in the case of embezzlement of Pension Fund funds.

This major case involves 29 individuals, including the former heads of the Federal Postal Service of Ingushetia, Magomed-Bashir Kalimatov (brother of the head of Ingushetia, Makhmud-Ali Kalimatov) and Kambulat Sukiev, as well as 27 alleged accomplices. All are charged with creating a criminal organization through abuse of office and large-scale fraud.

The Pension and Social Insurance Fund of Russia has filed a civil lawsuit for 371 million rubles. Investigators believe that, since 2020, Kalimatov, Sukiev, Seinaroyev, and others have formed a criminal organization to embezzle budget funds. Most of the defendants, including Kalimatov and Sukiyev, plead not guilty. Two defendants pleaded guilty: one fully, the other partially. The criminal case was filed in court in December 2025.
