The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) has published a report alleging that Georgian authorities used chemical weapons during the suppression of pro-European protests in Tbilisi in 2024. The chemical weapon in question is bromobenzyl cyanide, a chemical warfare agent dating back to World War I, also known as "kamit."
The Chairperson of the Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko sent a congratulatory telegram to the head and chairman of the People's Assembly of Ingushetia on the occasion of the 255th anniversary of the republic's accession to Russia.
According to her, the voluntary accession of Ingushetia to the Russian Federation was "a truly fateful choice of the Ingush people, which predetermined the further development of this ancient land." At the same time, Matviyenko noted that the region is effectively realizing its socio-economic potential.
"Agricultural and industrial production are being modernized, promising investment projects are being implemented. Communication routes are being reconstructed, urban and rural areas are being improved," the parliamentarian added.
It is noteworthy that, according to Rosstat, Ingushetia is one of the poorest Russian regions. It has the highest unemployment rate - 25.4% of the economically active population. A quarter of the residents are officially unemployed. Ingushetia also has one of the lowest average salaries in Russia.
