Georgian Prime Minister noted that leaders of authoritarian countries attended the meeting with the US President
The head of the Georgian government, Irakli Kobakhidze, commented on the revocation of his invitation to an official reception on behalf of US President Joe Biden, held in honor of the heads of delegations participating in the 79th session of the UN General Assembly. According to the Georgian Prime Minister, several dozen leaders of authoritarian states attended the event.

“As for the revocation of my invitation to dinner, the planned handshake, this was some kind of childish act. The United States of America is a great country, and resentment does not adorn such a great country. The public should know one thing and draw conclusions - several dozen leaders of authoritarian states attended the dinner, or whatever it was, at Biden’s invitation. More than 150 heads of state were invited there, about half of which are authoritarian. They were invited, and your invitation is being revoked, let the public draw conclusions from this,” Kobakhidze said.

He also stressed that the prospects for Georgian-American relations depend on the United States.

It was previously reported that the United States was considering the possibility of imposing sanctions against the founder of the ruling party of Georgia, billionaire, former Russian citizen Bidzina Ivanishvili.

"We have information that Ivanishvili has taken steps to develop relations with Russian oligarchs in order to provide Russia with better access to the Georgian market. In fact, he has taken certain actions on the instructions of Russian intelligence," a high-ranking representative of the American government said.

The United States has also already imposed financial and visa sanctions against a number of Georgian politicians and security officials for "suppressing democracy and adopting anti-democratic laws."
