The US Embassy in Georgia has criticized the creation of a new Interior Ministry unit tasked with combating so-called online hate speech. The statement was issued in response to a query from the Georgian service of Radio Liberty regarding the detention of journalist Vakho Sanaia.
Pro-war Telegram channels are increasingly warning of the growing threat posed not only by UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles) but also by balloons carrying them. Similar technologies have recently been observed in several Russian regions, including North Ossetia, the Krasnodar Krai, the Rostov Oblast, and Crimea.
According to the Telegram channel "Osveditel," these balloons are used to transport drones, including American Hornet attack drones, which, according to the channel, are effectively disrupting Russian military logistics.
"The balloons reach an altitude of 5-7 kilometers before being released. Their use significantly extends the drones' range, allowing them to be delivered deep behind enemy lines. Wind direction is a key factor here, ensuring the delivery of the balloon and drone to the target area," the report states.
According to propagandist Yuri Kotenok, the MVSh are inexpensive and cannot be neutralized by existing electronic warfare (EW) systems.
