In Croatia, starving Chechen refugees were not visited by authorities

On the fourth day, six refugees from Chechnya are on a hunger strike in the Jezevo migrant centre in Croatia. Neither the authorities nor human rights defenders had visited them during that period.
Isa Daduyev, spokesman for the "Assembly of Chechens of Europe", said that there was discrimination on ethnic and religious grounds against Chechens and Muslims. They were allegedly detained on suspicion of religious extremism, despite a lack of evidence.
Refugees from Chechnya have been kept in isolation for six months and extended the term for another three months. They complain about the bad attitude of the camp administration. Earlier, Chechens who had left Russia because of their unwillingness to participate in the war against Ukraine had been denied international protection in Croatia.
