Representatives of the Council of Europe have called on Azerbaijani authorities to release human rights defender Anar Mammadli, who was sentenced to 13 years in prison. Specifically, PACE rapporteur on political prisoners Azadeh Rojhan asserts that his prosecution is political in nature and that fundamental principles of a fair trial were violated during the proceedings.

Serviceman Ruslan Murzakayev was sentenced by the Nalchik Garrison Military Court to five years in a general regime penal colony for prolonged absence without leave.
According to the verdict, Murzakayev, who had been mobilized and absent from his unit for almost two years, failed to report for duty on February 9, 2024. He was detained in Prokhladny on December 31, 2025. The serviceman fully admitted his guilt.
The Nalchik Garrison Military Court is known for handing down prison sentences to mobilized and contract soldiers. Other convicted individuals include Algiz Valitov (two years in prison), Timur Yandiev and Amerkhan Kurskiyev (five years each), Arsen Bayev (seven years), and Murat Khapov (five years).
