Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has described Tbilisi's decision not to join sanctions against Russia as the correct one. He made this statement in response to an agreement between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding the supply of Russian diesel fuel to American and global markets.

Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov has visited Azerbaijan. During a meeting with President Ilham Aliyev, Kadyrov described Azerbaijan as a brotherly country, again expressed condolences over the crash of the Baku–Grozny passenger plane in December 2024, and congratulated Azerbaijan on “resolving the Karabakh issue”. Aliyev, in turn, praised Chechnya’s achievements in maintaining security and promoting socio-economic development.

In response to criticism from EU Ambassador Paweł Herczyński, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze accused the European bureaucracy of supporting the radical opposition and asserted that the Georgian authorities have a better understanding of the principles of democracy and human rights. Herczyński had previously reported a deterioration in the country's situation, attributing it to government actions and anti-European rhetoric.

Armenia’s National Security Service (NSS) has denied reports regarding the appearance of individuals suspected to be Azerbaijanis in the vicinity of Meghri. The agency stated that reports of the incident and subsequent search operations are untrue.

Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stated that a number of external forces are attempting to draw Georgia into anti-Russian political scenarios. According to her, the development of relations between Moscow and Tbilisi is causing dissatisfaction among these players.

On October 8, the Chechen parliament approved the nomination of Magomed Daudov as Chairman of the Republic's Government. The session was attended by the Head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, commenting on recent remarks by Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev that Armenia could become a “new Ukraine”, said:

“What does it mean that Armenia will face a similar threat? Armenia has already faced such a threat and found itself in a similar situation when, in September 2022 in particular, the CSTO failed to fulfil its allied obligations towards the Republic of Armenia.”

On October 8, the European Parliament adopted a resolution regarding attempts by Georgia's ruling party to secure a ban on opposition parties in the country. The document was supported by 445 MEPs, with 37 voting against. The resolution was drafted following a debate on the situation in Georgia held the previous day.
