Ahead of Donald Trump's meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev scheduled for August 8, Human Rights Watch (HRW) expressed serious concerns about the human rights situation in Azerbaijan.

Previously imprisoned Azerbaijani journalist Afgan Mukhtarli called on Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to intervene in the situation surrounding Bahruz Samedov. This Azerbaijani activist was sentenced to 15 years in prison in his home country on charges of spying for Armenia.

Eleven Ukrainian citizens held in the basement of the Georgian border checkpoint "Dariali" on the border with Russia have begun an indefinite hunger strike. More than 90 Ukrainian citizens deported from Russia are there with them, many for more than a month. It is reported that among them are people with HIV and tuberculosis.
