Crimean Tatar political prisoner to be transferred from pretrial detention center to maximum security penal colony

Activist Ametkhan Abdulvapov, who was sentenced to 10.5 years, will be transferred to a maximum security penal colony. Its location is still unknown. He is currently in pretrial detention center No. 1 in Irkutsk, 6,000 kilometers from his home in Crimea.

A court in Stavropol sentenced seven more participants in the pogrom at the Makhachkala airport to imprisonment for terms ranging from 5 years to 6 years and 8 months. Abubakar Nurmagomedov, Umar Dzhanboruev, Alimpasha Daitbekov, Gadzhi Akhmedulaev, Magomedamin Tagirov, Alila Ismailov and Ramazan Isaev were found guilty of participating in mass riots and failure to comply with transport security requirements.

A Crimean Tatar Akim Gafarov, who was sentenced to 8 years, was recognized as a political prisoner. This was reported by the independent human rights project "Support for Political Prisoners. Memorial". The man was accused of participating in the Noman Chelebidzhikhan battalion, recognized as illegal in the Russian Federation and acting in the interests of Ukraine.
