The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry responded to the broadcast of a distorted map on Russia's Channel One. The program, "Vremya Pokazhet," presented Nagorno-Karabakh as a separate territory within Azerbaijan. Baku requested an explanation from Russia, calling the incident a serious provocation and unacceptable political manipulation.
Azerbaijan recalled that the country has fully restored its sovereignty and territorial integrity, a fact recognized by the international community, including the Russian Federation.
"The dissemination of outdated, false, and separatist views on a Russian state television channel runs counter to the spirit of Azerbaijani-Russian relations, as well as the principles of mutual respect and good-neighborliness, especially given the numerous statements by the Russian side about its unconditional respect for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan," the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry emphasized that the country "counts on official clarification from Moscow and the adoption of measures to prevent similar incidents in the future."
