Azerbaijan Welcomes Another 30 Ukrainian Children for Respite and Psychological Rehabilitation

Thirty children from the Dnipropetrovsk region and the city of Boyarka in the Kyiv region have arrived in Azerbaijan. A trip to Qabala has been organized for them, where they will be able to rest, improve their health, and receive psychological support.

"Among them are the children of Ukrainian defenders—specifically those currently held in Russian captivity or who have been wounded," stated Yuriy Gusev, Ukraine's Ambassador to Azerbaijan, on his Facebook page.

According to him, since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion, 722 Ukrainian children have already had the opportunity to rest and recuperate in Azerbaijan.

"We are sincerely grateful to the leadership of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Azerbaijani people for their solidarity, care, hospitality, and support for Ukrainian children. This is yet another demonstration of the true friendship between our nations and the strategic partnership between Ukraine and Azerbaijan. Thank you to Azerbaijan for giving Ukrainian children the chance to experience the joy of childhood once again!" the diplomat wrote.

In addition to rehabilitation programs for children, Baku provides humanitarian aid to Ukraine to support energy infrastructure and the reconstruction of damaged facilities. According to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, the total volume of humanitarian aid to Ukraine—including support for recovery efforts—had exceeded $50 million by August 2026.

A significant portion of the aid is related to the energy sector. According to Ukraine's Ministry of Energy, more than 2,300 tons of energy equipment had been delivered from Azerbaijan across 149 humanitarian shipments by the beginning of 2026. This equipment includes, among other items, generators, power transformers, transformer substations, and cabling. The Azerbaijani side has also repeatedly stated its support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders. On August 24, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev congratulated Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the Ukrainian people on the 35th anniversary of Ukraine's independence. In his message, he noted the mutual support between the two countries regarding territorial integrity and sovereignty and affirmed the intention to continue providing humanitarian aid to Ukraine.
