Speaker of the Georgian Parliament Shalva Papuashvili accused European leaders of using relations with Georgia as a political tool, leading to the current tensions.
At Armenia's request, the European Union will deploy a rapid response team to the country to counter hybrid threats ahead of the parliamentary elections scheduled for June 7, 2026. EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Kaja Kallas announced this. She noted that Europe will support Armenia in the fight against external interference.
"Supporting the sustainability of democracy in our region remains crucial. We will not leave Armenia alone to face foreign interference. Democracies under pressure can count on Europe," Kallas emphasized.
Earlier, Armenia's Foreign Intelligence Service reported foreign attempts to pressure citizens and individuals of Armenian descent to support certain political forces. Based on these reports, Armenia's Investigative Committee opened a criminal case, alleging the involvement of representatives of foreign intelligence services through politicians, businessmen, and criminal organizations.
