Two Russian citizens detained in Azerbaijan amid tensions with Moscow following the plane crash in late 2024 have been found guilty and sentenced to three years in prison. Igor Zabolotskikh and Ilnur Valitov were found guilty of cyber fraud.
Communist Party leader Gennady Zyuganov, speaking from the State Duma, demanded that Russia stop hosting Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. Zyuganov's statement stemmed from his outrage over Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's speech in Yerevan at the European Political Community summit.
"I never expected to hear threats to shell Red Square from Yerevan," the deputy expressed his indignation.
He questioned "why such statements are allowed in Yerevan, and why Nikol Pashinyan continues to visit Moscow."
"I insist that this figure, regardless of his political successes, no longer visit our capital," the Communist Party leader emphasized.
He believed the Armenian prime minister "humiliated and insulted Russia."
State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin previously called Zelenskyy's invitation to Yerevan an "unfriendly move," comparing the events in Armenia to the beginning of a "Ukrainian scenario."
The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also voiced complaints against Yerevan regarding violations of the agreements reached. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova noted that none of the summit participants condemned Zelenskyy's "blasphemous" statements, "full of hatred and contempt for the Great Victory over Nazism."
Nikol Pashinyan himself, commenting on Volodymyr Zelenskyy's remarks about Moscow, said: "This was a platform for dialogue, where each participant has the right to their own opinion... I have heard statements by Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed to various countries, and I don't recall Moscow expecting a response from me."
