Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced at a briefing in Yerevan following a government meeting that he will not participate in the May 9 parade in Moscow due to the election campaign.
Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Bochorishvili spoke about her telephone conversations with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha. She praised the initiative, which she said came from the Ukrainian side. During the conversation, an agreement was reached on an upcoming meeting.
"Ukraine has significantly intensified contacts with Georgia. Today, I spoke by telephone with my Ukrainian counterpart, and we decided to continue our communication and dialogue. Indeed, a number of issues have accumulated that require discussion. For a long time, Ukraine has communicated with Georgia and its people, so to speak, through social media, broadcasting not the most pleasant messages that cannot be ignored. We agreed to a meeting soon, at which we will be able to discuss all the steps necessary to return bilateral relations to normal," Bochorishvili said on the Imedi TV channel.
On May 6, at the initiative of the Ukrainian side, a telephone conversation took place between Maka Bochorishvili and Andriy Sybiga. The Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that "During the conversation, Georgian-Ukrainian relations were discussed, the importance of dialogue and further steps in this direction was emphasized."
Andriy Sybiga, in turn, commented on the conversation on social media.
"I was pleased to resume dialogue with my Georgian counterpart Maka Bochorishvili after recent meetings in Yerevan. In today's telephone conversation, we noted the constructive dialogue between our countries and our mutual interest in normalizing Ukrainian-Georgian relations. We discussed bilateral relations and interaction within international organizations, and confirmed our readiness to develop cooperation and maintain active contact," Sybiga wrote.
As a reminder, on May 4, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met in Yerevan on the sidelines of the European Political Community summit. The parties expressed their readiness to take the necessary measures to restore ties as much as possible. Following the meeting, the Georgian politician emphasized that, despite the existing difficulties, relations between the countries have a long history of friendship.
