The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) has published a report alleging that Georgian authorities used chemical weapons during the suppression of pro-European protests in Tbilisi in 2024. The chemical weapon in question is bromobenzyl cyanide, a chemical warfare agent dating back to World War I, also known as "kamit."
Ingushetia and Chechnya are the outsiders in terms of the number of highly paid workers
In the rating of Russian regions by the share of workers with salaries above the national average, the subjects of the North Caucasus Federal District occupy the last places. Ingushetia (last place, 6%) and Chechnya (penultimate, 6.1%) demonstrate the lowest indicators.
Kabardino-Balkaria (83rd place, 8.1%) and Dagestan (82nd place, 8.3%) are also at the bottom of the list. The situation is somewhat better in Karachay-Cherkessia (79th, 10.6%), North Ossetia (78th, 11.4%) and Stavropol Krai (75th place, 13%).
The leaders are the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug (where 66% of the population earns more than the national average), Chukotka (55.1%) and Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug (52.7%).
