The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry responded to the broadcast of a distorted map on Russia's Channel One. The program, "Vremya Pokazhet," presented Nagorno-Karabakh as a separate territory within Azerbaijan. Baku requested an explanation from Russia, calling the incident a serious provocation and unacceptable political manipulation.
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan sharply criticized opposition presidential candidates Robert Kocharyan, Samvel Karapetyan, and Gagik Tsarukyan. In a social media post, Pashinyan accused them of seeking to revise the peace treaty with Azerbaijan and, as he put it, "open the door to war."
"It has been clearly established that the forces led by Karapetyan, Kocharyan, and Tsarukyan are guided by a policy of revising the peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan. This means they are following the path of 'opening the door to war,'" Pashinyan concluded.
The Armenian Prime Minister added that attempts to repeat the same mistakes could lead to a "fateful threat to Armenia's security," as the Armenian people have had bitter experience with such scenarios.
The day before, Nikol Pashinyan made accusations against his predecessors—former presidents Levon Ter-Petrosyan, Robert Kocharyan, and Serzh Sargsyan. He claimed they concealed the truth about the Karabakh settlement from the Armenian people. At a briefing in Yerevan, the head of the Armenian government noted that all these opposition, "pro-Kremlin" politicians recognized Karabakh as part of Azerbaijan but did not disclose this information to the public.
