The Ukrainian President and Georgian Prime Minister met for the first time since the war began

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the sidelines of the 8th European Political Community Summit in Yerevan. This is their first face-to-face conversation since the outbreak of full-scale war.

Footage of the meeting was released by the Georgian government administration. In the video, Zelenskyy, shaking the Georgian Prime Minister's hand, briefly bid farewell: "See you later!"

According to official information, the talks were initiated by the Ukrainian side. The main topic was bilateral relations. The foreign ministers of both countries also participated in the meeting.

The leaders had previously met on the sidelines of the event, shaking hands during a joint photo op with the summit participants.

The talks took place amid ongoing tensions in relations between Tbilisi and Kyiv. Georgian authorities have previously repeatedly claimed that certain members of the Ukrainian leadership allegedly called for opening a "second front" against Russia. Tbilisi views such statements as political pressure and a threat to drag the country into war.

The ruling Georgian Dream party emphasized that such signals run counter to Georgia's security interests. Kyiv, for its part, denies these accusations and insists it has made no official demands for a second front.

The Georgian side states that, while political differences persist, it continues to support Ukraine on a humanitarian level and expresses solidarity with its people, but avoids steps that could lead to a direct military confrontation with Russia.

Tbilisi also characterizes relations with Kyiv as "unilaterally friendly," citing the maintenance of diplomatic contacts in the absence of similar political reciprocity.
