The Azerbaijani leader, in turn, thanked his interlocutors for their calls and their expressed positions.
The diplomatic missions and embassies of several countries, including France, Great Britain, Latvia, Austria, Pakistan, Syria, the Netherlands, Qatar, Moldova, and others, also expressed their full solidarity with Baku.
Earlier that day, commenting on the incident, the President of Azerbaijan chided Iran, recalling that he "visited their embassy to express my condolences and express my position," despite the fact that, other than him, "no other head of state has visited any Iranian embassy."
"That is, to underestimate this, to downplay the significance of what happened, to behave like base and ungrateful people—does no one any credit," he lamented.
At the same time, Ilham Aliyev assures that he "has not and will not participate in operations against Iran."
"We are not interested in conducting any operations against neighboring countries, and our policy does not allow this. We defend and have defended our territorial integrity." Just as we put an end to the Armenian occupation, we are ready to demonstrate our power against any evil forces, and let Iran not forget this,” Aliyev warned.
