North Caucasus regions hide their budgets

The Financial Research Institute of the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation published the results of the annual assessment of the regions of the country by the level of budgetary openness. Dagestan took 85th place in the ranking of 2022. Slightly better situation in North Ossetia (84th place) and Ingushetia (83rd place). Adygea, Primorsky Krai and Chuvashia are recognized as leaders in opening up budget data.

Former head of the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration and former president of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), Ramiz Mehdiyev, will be removed from the Security Council on charges of attempting to seize power. The court previously placed him under house arrest for four months.

The Southern District Military Court found Islam Batsiev, a native of Dagestan, guilty of attempted murder of a law enforcement officer (Article 317 of the Russian Criminal Code) for participating in the attack on Pskov paratroopers as part of Basayev and Khattab's field detachment. Batsiev was sentenced to 21 years in a maximum-security penal colony.
