Natural disasters continue in Dagestan: avalanches cover houses and a road

In the village of Shaitli in the Tsuntinsky District, an avalanche hit, covering two houses. According to the Dagestan Ministry of Emergency Situations, a woman and child were trapped under the snow, and evacuations are underway.

Earlier, on April 12, an avalanche seven meters wide and one and a half meters high occurred in the same district on the Udok-Terutli road. This disrupted transport links with three villages: Tsokokh, Terutli, and Makhalatli, as well as the border outpost.

Additional problems arose on April 12 in the Dakhadaevsky District. Heavy rainfall caused the collapse of a bridge over the Kardukotty River, according to the Ministry of Transport press service. As a result, the villages of Sursurbachi, Itsari, Khuduts, Ashty, Kunki, and Dirbakmakhi were left without transport links.

The natural disaster that has been raging in the North Caucasus since late March has manifested itself in floods caused by torrential rains. These floods have been described as some of the most destructive in recent years, with Dagestan suffering the most damage.
