On the sidelines of the European Political Community summit in Yerevan, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Ukrainian drones may attend the May 9 parade in Moscow.
"Russia has announced a parade on May 9, but there will be no military equipment. If this is confirmed, it will be the first time in many years that the country will be unable to provide weapons for the parade. It is also possible that Ukrainian drones may appear during the event," Zelenskyy stated.
The Ukrainian leader began his speech by wishing Armenia and Azerbaijan lasting peace.
"Of course, I must begin with this. This is very important. We wish only peace for Armenia and Azerbaijan—sustainable, comprehensive, and long-term peace, of course." "We wish this to you, Mr. Prime Minister [of Armenia – ed.], we wish this to President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan, and we wish this to both your peoples," Zelenskyy said.
The Ukrainian president also commented on his visit to Yerevan, noting the importance of the region's European integration: "It is important that Armenia stands together with all Europeans today. Incidentally, this is the first visit of a Ukrainian president to Armenia in 24 years."
Due to events related to the May 9 celebrations, mobile phone service will be down in Moscow for several days. The Russian Ministry of Defense announced changes to the Victory Day Parade program. For the first time in sixteen years, since 2007, a column of military vehicles will not march through Red Square.
