In Makhachkala, the capital of Dagestan, relief efforts continue following flooding caused by heavy rains and flash floods. According to Mayor Dzhambulat Salavov, a total of 320 people have been evacuated from flooded areas. Of these, 129 residents remain in five temporary accommodation centers and hotels, while the rest have found shelter with relatives.

The Chechen Republic has been hit by severe flooding caused by heavy rainfall. The natural disaster has led to flooding, destruction of roads, housing, and infrastructure, according to regional governor Ramzan Kadyrov. He noted that relevant services were quickly deployed, and a state of emergency has been declared in several districts.

Heavy rains have fallen across the Chechen Republic, with water levels exceeding normal levels reported in several districts. In some villages, the severe weather has already caused localized damage to infrastructure.

Due to heavy rainfall that has blanketed Dagestan since Friday evening, 60,000 residents in 14 districts were left without power. Numerous homes were reportedly flooded, and a railway bridge collapsed in Khasavyurt.

Scientists have hypothesized a link between the seal deaths in Dagestan and the spread of avian influenza. They believe the mass deaths, regularly observed over the past three years, may be caused by the autumn-winter migration of birds, which carry the virus.

A massive number of dead Caspian seals—484 individuals—have been discovered on the Caspian Sea coast in Dagestan. According to the regional Ministry of Natural Resources, the animals' bodies were found on the beaches of Makhachkala and in coastal areas.
