Azerbaijani political prisoner and opposition figure Tofig Yagublu has been awarded the prestigious World Freedom Congress award, according to his daughter, Nigar Hazi.

A Moscow court has extended the arrest of blogger Arsen Markaryan, who was detained in August, by two months. According to the press service of Moscow's courts of general jurisdiction, Markaryan is charged with insulting the memory of defenders of the Fatherland (Part 4, Article 354.1 of the Russian Criminal Code).

A protest in support of imprisoned Russian citizen Anastasia Zinovkina took place in Georgia. Participants gathered outside the Public Defender's (Ombudsman's) office in Tbilisi, demanding her transfer to a medical facility due to her deteriorating health.

Imprisoned Azerbaijani journalist Farid Mehralizade has been awarded the 2025 John Aubuchon Press Freedom Award, presented by the National Press Club. Congressman James McGovern called for Mehralizade's release and the dismissal of charges against his wife.
