The European Court of Human Rights ordered the Russian authorities to pay 26 thousand euros to Derbent resident Temirkhan Amakhanov, recognizing him as a victim of torture by security forces.

The European Parliament adopted a resolution on the case of oppositionist and economist Gubad Ibadoglu, who was arrested in Azerbaijan. The document condemns his criminal prosecution on trumped-up and politically motivated charges, and also calls for sanctions against Azerbaijani officials.

The European Court of Human Rights awarded 26 thousand euros in compensation to activist from Nalchik Aslan Iritov. A disabled person without both arms was sentenced to two years of suspended imprisonment in 2021 for an “attack” on security forces.

The Russian authorities must pay 52 thousand euros to actor Timur Debishev according to the decision of the ECHR.

The European Court of Human Rights awarded Derbent residents Islam Barzukaev and Gasan Kurbanov 26 thousand euros in compensation each. In 2019, they were kidnapped by employees of the Center for Specialized Enforcement of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and forced to confess to committing crimes under torture.
