An Azerbaijani human rights activist complained about the lack of medical care in a pretrial detention center

Ruslan Izzetli, a member of the Institute for Democratic Initiatives, who was arrested in Baku, complained about the lack of access to necessary medical care in the pretrial detention center. Izzetli, who suffers from gallstones, reported that he had requested an ultrasound a month ago but had not yet received an appointment.

Georgi Mamniashvili, an employee of the Georgian opposition television channel TV Pirveli, was subjected to degrading treatment in custody after being detained on November 22. His lawyer, Tornike Migineishvili, stated this, stating that the journalist was handcuffed for several hours and forced to strip naked and do squats. Mamniashvili is reportedly being held in the Dighomi pretrial detention center.

The Angarsk City Court in the Irkutsk Region has sentenced three defendants in the case of torture in Pretrial Detention Center No. 6 in Angarsk, following the suppression of the riot at Penal Colony No. 15 in April 2020. Alexander Aniskov and Vladimir Reshchikov, inmate "activists" acting on orders from prison guards, as well as Dmitry Baroyan, former deputy head of the prison regime and supervision department, were found guilty of sexual assault. Aniskov received 12 years in a maximum-security penal colony, Reshchikov received five years, and Baroyan received six years.
