Last season, Russia's ski resorts attracted over 8 million tourists, and this number is expected to increase by another 10% in the 2025-2026 season. Resorts in the North Caucasus Federal District (NCFD) are making a significant contribution to this growth, according to Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko.

The regions of the North Caucasus Federal District (NCFD) will continue to see growth in tourist flow in 2025. Head of Kabardino-Balkaria, Kazbek Kokov, reported a record figure: the region welcomed over two million tourists, a 13.7% increase over 2024.

Regions of the North Caucasus will become part of the "Sacred Path" project, aimed at developing Islamic religious tourism in Russia. The project was developed by the Spiritual Assembly of Muslims of Russia (SAMR).

During the New Year holidays, ski resorts in the North Caucasus Federal District (NCFD) welcomed 70,700 guests, an 18% increase compared to last year. This figure, published by the Kavkaz.RF development institute, reflects the number of cable car users.

Armenia has been recognized as one of the safest countries in the world, ranking 13th out of 193 in the World Travel Index. The ranking is based on an artificial intelligence analysis of various parameters important to tourist safety.

A State Council Commission of the Russian Federation assessed tourism development in Russian regions. Among the subjects of the North Caucasus Federal District, Karachay-Cherkessia demonstrated the best results, ranking 13th in the national ranking.

Georgia and Armenia ranked seventh and ninth in terms of number of tourists from Russia in January-September 2025, with 1.2 million and 800,000, respectively.

According to analysts at Sutochno.ru, interest in Russian ski resorts has increased by 20% compared to last year. Resorts in the North Caucasus are particularly popular: Arkhyz and Dombay in Karachay-Cherkessia, as well as Elbrus in Kabardino-Balkaria, are among the top ten most popular destinations with the largest growth.

According to Rosstat, tourist flow to Russia more than doubled from 2014 to 2024. The regions of the North Caucasus made a significant contribution to this growth.

According to the Russian Union of Travel Industry, in the summer of 2025, Crimea is leading in terms of growth in demand for domestic tourist trips (+42%). The top three also include the Yaroslavl Region (+22%) and Dagestan (+20%).
