The Special Investigation Service of Georgia has launched an investigation into the abuse of official powers of law enforcement officers in relation to demonstrators near the parliament building in Tbilisi.

Today in Makhachkala another picket took place in support of political prisoner-journalist Abdulmumin Gadzhiev. The action was attended by Magomed Magomedov, deputy editor-in-chief of the Chernovik publication.

Dagestan activist Ulker Gashimova complained about pressure from the investigation. During the interrogation, the investigator pushed her, said the mother of the accused, Gulnara Alekberova.

The Malgobek City Court of Ingushetia extended the arrest of Leila Gatagazheva for two months. The 21-year-old mother of two is accused of aiding ISIS (a banned terrorist organization).

The Khasavyurt City Court sentenced policemen Shamil Aliyev and Ramazan Saipulaev to suspended sentences. They were found guilty of abuse of power with the use of violence and falsification of evidence, the Team Against Torture reported.

The Kiev District Court in Simferopol extended until August 3 the arrest of Crimean Tatars from Dzhankoy and Dzhankoy district - Enver Khalilayev, Nariman Ametov, Ali Mamutov, activist Arsen Kashka and the imam of the mosque in the village of Lobanovo Vakhid Mustafayev.

The head of the Meclis.info website Imran Aliyev became a defendant in the second criminal case. He was charged under Article 206.3.1 (smuggling - in case of repetition), and before that - under Article 206.3.2 of the Criminal Code (smuggling by a group of persons). The sanctions for both articles are the same - imprisonment from 5 to 8 years.

A draft law on sanctions against 44 high-ranking officials of Azerbaijan has been submitted to the US Congress. The reason is their violation of human rights, carrying out repressions against the opposition, activists and journalists.

A court in Grozny declared illegal the investigator’s decision to refuse to provide case materials to the relatives of Movsar Umarov, a native of Chechnya who was kidnapped in 2020 and disappeared without a trace.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs has put the deputy head of the Congress of the Oirat-Kalmyk people, Vladimir Dovdanov, on the wanted list. Previously, a criminal case was opened against him for calls for activities directed against the security of Russia. He is charged with calling on the Armed Forces of Ukraine to destroy Russian equipment.
