The old man, who had left the house to mow the grass, was standing by his motorcycle sharpening his scythe. The military were checking the Grozny-Shatoy highway for explosive devices and could not help but see that he did not pose any threat, but they opened fire. As a result of a grenade explosion, Shadid Zakriev, who lived on Zarechnaya Street, had both of his legs blown off. On the way to the hospital, he died.

The Russian shelling resulted in casualties in Odessa, Kramatorsk, and Konstantinovka.
