In Chechnya and Dagestan seismic microzoning maps are being developed.
North Ossetia is the only region in Russia for which a map of seismic microzoning has been developed. Similar work begins in Chechnya and Dagestan.
According to Vladislav Zaalishvili, Head of Geophysical Institute of the FGBUN branch of FNC "Vladikavkaz Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences", during 1-2 years the earthquakes in Turkey will continue, echoes will appear in the south of Russia. Moreover, waves from such earthquakes, according to the "slow wave theory", go for 10 years.
Potentially dangerous sites exist in Crimea, the territory of which, like Turkey, is part of the Alpine-Himalayan seismic belt. Among the dangerous points, in particular, Yalta, where it is possible to repeat the earthquake of 1927 with an amplitude of 7 points. The mountains of North and South Ossetia are in the 9-point range.
