Human rights activist Gulu Mammadli called on US Vice President J.D. Vance to facilitate the release of political prisoners in Azerbaijan, mentioning opposition leader Ali Karimli. Vance plans to visit Baku on February 10, following his visit to Armenia.

Ali Karimli, the leader of the opposition Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA), who is under arrest, expressed gratitude to public figures, lawyers, and politicians for the formation of a committee to protect his rights. He noted that, given the current repression, this action requires significant civic courage and thanked Azerbaijan's "defiant intelligentsia" for their support.

Activists from the Chechen opposition movement NIYSO have reported the kidnapping of Usman Arbashev from Alkhan-Kala, which they claim was carried out with the intent of forcibly sending him to war in Ukraine.

Today, the Baku Military Court announced the sentences for members of the former leadership of Nagorno-Karabakh, the unrecognized republic that came under Azerbaijani control. In Baku, the defendants are referred to as "Armenian separatists" and were charged with crimes against peace and humanity, war crimes, terrorism, terrorist financing, and more.
